Welcome to my website about the metalhand!

The metalhand is one of the hand gestures that we come across very often.  When we turn on MTV, visit a festival, watch an Gene Simmons interview or even search for pictures of our political leaders, we are very likely to see gesture. Nowadays this gesture is mostly being used in the rock and metal community. Since the averege rockconcert isn't the best place to communicate with your friends and you definitely cannot speak to the band, rock and metal- lovers use this handgesture to let everybody know that they are having a good time. Making a metalhand simply tells the others that you are enjoying yourself. This gesture, however, has been around for a long time and it originally had nothing to do with rockmusic at all. This website will inform you about the origin of this gesture, that we will call the Corna from now on.

The Corna appeared for the very first time in ancient Greece. Greek mythology is responsible for a lot of expressions, but we can thank these old story for some hand gestures as well. The story goes that the great and powerful king named Minos once received a bull by Poseidon, god of the seas. This bull was an magnificent and extremely beautiful creature. Minos, however, was supposed to return the bull as a sacrifice to the god. So far it all makes perfect sense, since this is a normal event in Greek mythology. The thing is though, that Minos had a wife named Pasifae and Pasifae was, for some strange reason, attracted to the bull and she had an intense desire to have intercourse with the bull. The bull didn't fancy Pasifae, since it was a bull and bulls fancy cows instead of humans. Pasifae realised this and went to the famous inventor Daedalus to help her on her mission to make love to the magnificent bull. Daedalus created some wooden cow costume for her and she did indeed manage to have intercourse with the bull. She give birth to a creature called the minotaur, which looks like a human, but has the head of a bull. Since Minos and Pasifae were powerful and important people it didn't took a lot of time for the people to find out about this event. Of course it is extremely funny when your queen prefers intercourse with an animal instead of with the king, so the king was being ridiculed from that moment on. The people didn't just make fun of him with words, but they used the Corna as well, since it looks like a set of horns. And this is the oldest story about the corna.
